It was a dream come true to see hundreds come to the Dream Center.  After 18 years of bringing Christmas to the streets, community centers and schools, God has blessed us with our own facility that stands as a beacon of light on the reservation.  Giving hope and promise to the children that they have a safe, loving place to grow and learn more about Jesus.

WAEM is the new owner of a 60-passenger school bus to use for the ministry.  It is an answer to prayers as we have needed a reliable way to help transport the Lakota children to the Dream Center for Kids Club, Wednesday night fellowships and so much more!

We are blessed that WAEM staffer, Joe Mixer, has his CDL license and can begin picking up children right away.

We bought the bus at an auction for a wonderful price – $4,700.  We are asking for your help to offsetting this expense.  If you can give toward this purchase, please donate online through the following ways:

Each year, we have the honor of providing Christmas to over 5,000 children and teens on reservations in the north. What a blessing it is to provide some hope and joy in the midst of a very hopeless place.  Most importantly, we are privileged to be the presence of Christ at a time when we should be focused on the best gift of all – Jesus Christ.

We can’t provide Christmas on the Rez without you!  Here is how you can help:

1. Assemble and mail Christmas Dream Boxes for children. For instructions on how to assemble a Christmas box and where to mail it, download 2011 WAEM Christmas Boxes

2. Donate money for Christmas presents. Click on the PayPal button on the right to donate online and just indicate it is for Christmas gifts.  Or you can mail a check made out to “WAEM” to the following address:

3.  Volunteer. Every year we need volunteers to come to the Dream Center on Pine Ridge to help organize and distribute the Christmas gifts the week before Christmas.  Contact us at lori@waeministries.com if you are interested in volunteering or bringing a team.

What fun! We had so many more youth come for the camp! Not as many adults but dozens of youth and teens, oh yeah!! We had a challenge because just a few families had vehicles. We were almost out of ideas, the team that was with us to help didn’t have a van available to pick up. So……we rented a charter bus from Rapid City and had them all picked up in the communities in style!!! Take that satan!!!! We also had the bus come back days later and take them home! It was so cool!!! I wish you all could have seen this huge charter picking up these precious families/youth. They ate 3 meals a day, snacks, slept in bunk beds, played games, crafts, painted on the walls, took showers, learned of Jesus, hung out and had a blast! On the last day it was so exciting!! It made the 17 years we have labored and tirelessly stood in faith, with our strength coming only from Christ Jesus, worth every minute.– 21 youth and young adults came forward and prayed for Jesus to come into their lives and hearts!

“Thank you to all who gave to make this possible, your seed reached the Heart of God. Many of you have planted seeds for years and years and it is now coming to pass. We pray for you and ask that you continue standing in the gap, giving and praying, steadfast and waiting for the promise.

“The Tree of Life” started in May by Southwest Baptist University and continue to be finished by many of the great teams this summer. Now the children who have received Jesus in their hearts and the native youth who come to the Dream Center place their hand prints on the tree.

In doing so they have accepted that they will follow Jesus and receive eternal life.

It also helps to make the youth and teens have a feeling of belonging and place they can call their own!! The smiles where enormous and the laughter heavenly!! We love these kids and so does Christ.

We have hundreds that want to be here all the time and we are praying now for a bus to be able to do just that!! Because…….of Jesus and for a time they can be just kids and forget the struggles of their everyday life. They can eat, be loved, and play where it is safe. As one boy of 12 years old said from Evergreen this summer,

“I like the Dream Center because I feel loved here.”
